Cast Iron Kettle Humidifier

Cast Iron Kettle HumidifierI just purchased a Cast iron humidifier and love it-$5.95 at the local thrift store.Cast iron needs to be seasoned, just like a cast iron skillet.Clean your cast iron item, dry it out, then rub bacon grease on it,inside and out(that's the best way)or olive oil or shortening and bake it in the oven for an hour or so-that should stop the rust, let it cool down in the oven. One reviewer said she was going to paint her's-that's probally not a good idea if you are going to use it-to many chemicals in the air.Oiling it will make it nice and black.

This cast iron kettle is very sturdy and it looks great on our wood stove.Keeping it full of water while burning a fire to keep the house warm is a great way to keep moisture in the air. Before using this kettle, it became hard to breathe since my nose and throat would dry out.Now there are no worries!

I would recommend this kettle for anyone who uses a wood stove or burns a fire for household heat.

We like this kettle very much.It could not be used as a teapot it gets rusty on the inside and it is very heavy and somewhat difficult to lift; but it sits on top of the wood stove and helps to humidify our house in the dry winter.Excellent value for the money!
