Oster CKSTGRFM18 9 by 20-Inch Folding Griddle

Oster CKSTGRFM18 9 by 20-Inch Folding GriddleWe got this griddle being very excited that it was dishwasher safe and foldable. Those are the only good things about this griddle. The plug does not fully stay in the griddle and I have to push it up against a wall to hold it in place otherwise the plug falls out and the griddle doesn't work.Even when it is shoved up against a wall, the plug won't fully engage which causes a host of headaches.Another wonderful feature is that due to the folding mechanism, both sides do not heat evenly so one side will burn my pancakes, while the other side will not cook them. Overall this was a terrible buy and I would not recommend this product to anyone. It seems appealing because of storage, washing, etc. but lets face it, you want a griddle that works and this does not.If you've ordered it, keep your receipt and send it back.I foolishly threw mine away banking on the good name of Oster.I was sorely disappointed.

It was a gift to our son and family .They love it ! It is easy to clean and to put away . It fits in smaller places, and cooks evenly.

Totally agree with above. I had identical problems. Doesn't fit in dishwasher, and more importantly doesn't work. Power device does not attach correctly and the power goes off and on making it almost impossible to cook anything. The heating, when it does work is so uneven you will want to scream in frustration. I was surprized as my last Oster griddle was great. After last use I was so aggravated I too threw the griddle away in order to force mayself to buy a new one. To put further sting on this experience, when I went on Amazon to buy a different one I found the original order and realized that the griddle I had ordered was not the one I recieved from 3rd party seller steamertrunkbooks. This was back in May and now is too late for me to do anything about it. My own fault for not realizing it was the wrong one.Buyer beware...Bottom line, the one I ordered was one I had previously and it was great for cooking though a bit involved to keep clean.

Universal Housewares Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron 15 Inch Skillet

Universal Housewares Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron 15 Inch SkilletThis is our first cast iron skillet. The wife and I had been lurking around, watching some cooking shows and the ol' cast iron skillet came up over and over again. Time to get one. I bought it for a Christmas present for her last year.

I don't do anything half a$$ed. I bought the biggest and baddest one out there. At first, my wife was like "Oh %$#@, that thing is a monster!" However the more we've used it, the more we decided that the size is fantastic even just for 2 people. Try blackening 4 salmon filet's on a 10 or 12 inch skillet. Not gonna happen. How about a whole bunch of breakfast potatoes for the overnight visitors? Pour the hole bag into this baby. Heck we just cooked some scallops and an almond encrusted trout in it side by side tonight, both turned out spectacular.

Just figure that this pan is not one you want to put away in a cupboard, and take back out again every night. This is a panthat will live on top of your stove and will often get raised eye comments about its size. Never once have we heard anyone say, "That thing is too big!" Most of the time the comments made are, "Wow, nice skillet!"

Of course it's a bit big for camping and we'll probably pick up a smaller one for travel, but for the home this has become our defacto skillet when things need to get hot to cook. Don't be offset by the fact that it IS a big honkin' piece of metal when you first handle it, and that the box it comes in (as was ours) will probably be trashed. If you like to cook in a cast iron skillet, and you often have the occasion to cook for more than 2 people, this is your pan.

Just make SURE that you have two GOOD silicon 'grabbers' for it. We have a silicon handle slip on cover and a 'glove' holder for grasping the tab on the front (both from Bed Bath & Beyond) so you can get a good grip on it while moving it to the sink. I don't care if you are a WWF wrestler, you will need two hands to big this thing up. That is the only task that needs careful attention. She gets hot and she is heavy, but with the right tools and using both hands, even my 5 foot, 100 pound wife can wield it with confidence towards the sink.

And don't ever wash it! Rinse it with hot water, and if any burnt stuffs don't come off with a gentle scrubbing, put it back on the stove and boil some water in it then gently scrub away the residue, rinse again and dry it with the heat from the burners and she's good to go.

I was so excited to get this pan. It's very heavy and huge! It's well seasoned, and exactly what I needed. One major flaw for me, though. The pan is not flat on the inside, and all the oil will go and puddle on the sides.it's higher in the middle, and the food or oil on the sideswill cook well, but the middle will burn.I'm not able to fry anything, which is what I bought this for, because unless I'm using a whole bottle of oil, the oil will pool only on the sides. It's fine for other cooking, but disappointing!

I read the reviews for the Lodge brand skillets and they were mixed. It sounded as if the newer ones cracked under the heat.

So I found this one. It's great, and cheaper than the Lodge one.

I was looking for something better than a wok.Woks are useless on normal American kitchen stovetops. They are made for deep fire pits that they use in China. We need to use a flat-bottomed, cast-iron pan to get high heat for stir frying.I made some awesome Thai stir fry with this pan.

It's heavy, but that's what you need.Use a pot holder for the handle. You can get those silicone sleeves that stay on the handle.

It's pre-seasoned, so things don't stick too much. When you're done using it, don't scrub it with soap and water that will remove the seasoning.Just rinse it, wipe it, and rub a little oil all over it.Don't leave water in it, or it will rust.

I bought this skillet because the one I had is only a 12 inch and I needed a bigger one. This one fills the bill, it is very big(and heavy too). It was also the least expensive one I could find. It has good thickness and cooks evenly ,I use it as a deep dish pizza pan and the crust always comes out golden brown . The only gripe I have is when it arrived, the edges of the pan were kind of jagged, from the casting process, not sharp but very rough. I used a disc sander with a 40 grit disc to smooth them off. It worked fine and now I'm sure this pan will give me a lifetime of good use.

I have absolutely no problems with the quality of this skillet. It was pre-seasoned perfectly, the thickness of the iron is fine.Even the weight is manageable for such a large skillet. But I would suggest before purchasing it, makes sure it'll fit on your stove and heat evenly. Our stove is a little too small for it.We've tried using two burners, but that leaves the middle section cold. And we've tried centering it on one burner, but that leaves the outer rim cold.So just ensure you have the space for it on your stove.

Alegacy Eagleware EW1018 Professional Natural Aluminum Fry Pan, 7-Inch

Alegacy Eagleware EW1018 Professional Natural Aluminum Fry Pan, 7-InchWe are big Waffle House fans who enjoy the skill and fruit of the short order chefs.

They flip eggs and serve 'em so the whites are cooked and the yolks are runny without bursting the yolks!

What skill.

So, I asked the waitress one day how they did that and she said Waffle House buys EAGLEWARE aluminum fry pan but carefully season the aluminum with salt/oil so that the pan is slicker than Teflon!

Season your EAGLEWARE aluminum fry pan the momma donna way:

1. wash it

2. dry it

3. put salt in it

4. with paper towel, grind it into the inside of pan

5. then, brush out the salt

6. dip another paper towel in oil and rub oil around the pan, leaving it on there.

7.put the pan on the burner (low-med heat) just until it is about to smoke.

8.take off burner and allow to cool.

9.repeat steps 1-8 two more times.

10.repeat steps 1-6, rubbing oil WELL into the pan before storing/putting away.

11. this process cures and seals the aluminum, making it stick-free… slicker than Teflon!

love,

momma donna

Berndes Milestone 11-Inch Square Grill Pan

Berndes Milestone 11-Inch Square Grill PanI searched for years for a grill pan that would function as a stove top broiler, leaving grill marks on meat and fish. They were available for all range tops, but mine, which has a smooth glass top. I needed an absolutely flat bottomed grill pan.The Berndes Milestone is exactly as I would have designed a pan for my needs. It has the broiler-like ribs in the interior, but a flat bottom for the stove top. The pan is no lightweight, coming in at 4.5 lbs on my digital scale. Even though it has a non-stick interior, I think it cleans up best if a light brushing of oil is applied before grilling. I've pan broiled everything from filet mignon, salmon, hot dogs, to Jaccard meat tenderized chuck strips and everything has cooked exactly as I desired.

I have several Berndes pans that function wonderfully. However, the Berndes grill pan is not one of them. The problem is you cannot get an aluminum pan hot enough to produce good sear marks.Try as I might I can only produce barely visible grill marks on a variety of foods with the Berndes grill pan.In contrast, my cast iron LeCreuset grill pan produces beautiful dark sear marks every time on the same burner on my stovetop.Additionally, the handle on my Berndes grill pan came loose after every use.The pan is not well made nor does it function well. Save your money and buy a cast iron grill pan.

This pan arrived with a defect and I contacted customer support (unfortunately, I did not use the pan within the Amazon return period).

After several unanswered emails to the customer service email address at the Berndes site, I contacted them by phone and they said they would send a part that I was to use to repair the pan.Bad enough that it wasn't immediately replaced, but I never received the part.

Most people expect higher-end cookware with a "lifetime guarantee" to have decent customer service, or some semblance thereof, but none exists here.

My first and last Berndes purchase was a complete waste of time and money.

This pan works perfectly on my glass cooktop.I am able to get a beautiful sear and nothing sticks.Throwing my LeCreuset grill pan away--so heavy and everything sticks. No more extensive cleanup.I do lightly season the pan with oil before every use.Love it!

Progressive International Stainless Steel Splatter Screen

Progressive International Stainless Steel Splatter ScreenThis thing is exactly what I was looking for.Sturdy and durable (doesnt bend) with an ultra fine mesh screen.I think this is the 13 inch size (use for 12 inch skillets). It may seem that it is easy to find a splatter screen, but most of the ones out there are crap so people end up breaking them or not using them.I was looking for a good one for months, and this is the best out of the dozen or so that I looked at (including the ridiculous $50 All Clad model).Although not absolutely necessary for me, I like the added feet so that you can set this down without making a mess.

I did not originally intend to purchase this screen.Rather, I fancied a dome-shaped model which I saw in a store, twice as expensive as this one, until I read a Cook's Illustrated review which slammed the domed screen as working 'equally poorly on both small and large pans' (!).Their recommendation was an AMCO model with fine mesh, similar to this one but a bit flimsier, without the little feet, and a bit more expensive. They didn't test this model, but I wish they had, as it's the best I've seen.

This screen improves upon others with its fine mesh (more effective at catching spat oil), its heavier-gauge frame, and its little feet that keep the screen off the counter top, reinforce the screen's mesh, and serve as a trivet. Not just for light duty, either -my wife and I made a pork-loin fricassee in our big copper saute pan, which weighs about 9 pounds empty, and then plopped it down on top of the screen-as-trivet for table service.Impressively sturdy for a nine-dollar item!

The only irritation was that the half-inch feet prevented me from storing the screen between our microwave and the shelf above it, as we'd previously done with the drugstore model.(Which melted, hence this fine replacement)The solution became obvious after dinner -store it under the heavy pan.

If you need a good splatter screen, buy this one.All the others we saw have some detail or other that falls short. This one is cheap, elegant, sturdy, and big enough for a 12.5" (32cm) frying pan.Save yourself the trouble of fooling around with the lesser models, I've seen none that can stack up, let alone at the price point which Amazon is offering this one.

Buy Progressive International Stainless Steel Splatter Screen Now

Progressive International Deluxe Splatter Screen A pleasant surprise, it does what it was suppose to and does it well! The additional bracing across the screen area helps keep the screen not only flat on the cooking pan but the additional weight holds it there, unlike the competitions lighter weight models where the screen tends to tip towards the handle. The three little feet let you set in on the counter when removed and while they don't stop it from dripping a little, it's a lot less than putting the competitions screen down.It cleans up easily and is dishwasher safe!A "Thumbs Up" winner at a great price!Oh yes, it really does stop the grease and oil splatter!

This biggist advantage of this product is the very small holes in the screen.I have used other screens but they do not stop splatters nearly as well.I use mine almost every week and it has performed well for almost a year.I hand wash only. Also, the screen has changed colors from use but that has not affected its performance.

Want Progressive International Stainless Steel Splatter Screen Discount?

I was a little hesitant to spend over $10 for a splatter screen as most of them really aren't worth more than a few bucks. However, I am VERY glad that I spent the extra money on this one.

The quality of this item is top notch. It's much more sturdy than any others that I've seen.I've been using this splatter screen for a few months now and still love it.The feet on the bottom are very helpful in controlling messes. The handle is terrific (some screens only have either a D ring on the top or a thin handle) and seems to stay cool while in use.

This even got raves from my mother.

Pedrini 6-Inch Non Stick Aluminum Fry Egg Pan, Red

Pedrini 6-Inch Non Stick Aluminum Fry Egg Pan, RedI bought a Pedrini frying pan, and after just 3 weeks the non-stick coating on the inside of the pan started to peel off. This while only using a wooden spoon with it. Cheap China crap. Don't buy. "Made In China" label conveniently hidden under a tag on the bottom of the pan that can't be seen unless you rip it off.

This pan its a great size for making eggs for one.I love omelets and this pan makes it easy. The problem

I have is the smell.I have used this pan at least 10 times.Washed it both by hand and in the dishwasher.

It has a terrible smell when I cook.I cant figure out why or when its coming from.the food does not smell

but the kitchen is bad.It does seem to be getting better.

Farberware Superior Nonstick 12-Piece Cookware Set, Black

Farberware Superior Nonstick 12-Piece Cookware Set, BlackI had all but given up on the elusive "non-stick" cookwear set.I recieved this set as a christmas present and I couldn't be happier.I have burned cheese, made scrambled eggs, and just about every other sticky thing you can think of and every time clean up is a simple wipe and rinse.I would recomend this set to anyone.I do hang them rather than stack them and use rubberized utensils in them because I don't want to scratch them, but regular use has not caused any scratches or worn areas that stick.I have had pans that looked worn out soon after using them, not these, still good as new after 2 months of constant use, cooking 3 meals a day for 6 people.

Tonight I used the large fry pan and the finish on the bottom came off and left marks on my stove that cannot be removed.....simply awful.....very frustrated by this.Would expect better from this company.

Would not recommend to anyone.

It took me awhile to write this review because it isn't that I got a tremendous value, I dd. It is, that, it wasn't extrordinary.I have bought many things refurished, or next to new, but after cooking with every piece this wasn't a superior piece, plain and simple. It wasn't beautiful, it didn't cook any different from a set from a chainstore

Tools of the Trade Belgique Stainless Steel 14-Piece Cookware Set

Tools of the Trade Belgique Stainless Steel 14-Piece Cookware SetI read reviews and was a little skeptical about whether I wanted these pans or not. What made me want them is their shape. I've had a few pans over my cooking career and pans that are straight up and down have a tendency to burn or stick food at the corner where the bottom meets the sides. A rounded pan sets up a roiling motion as it heats which keeps food/liquid in that area moving so it doesn't stick. I saw these pans by accident and couldn't wait to order them. Then other reviews says to turn the heat way down. Well no kiddin'!! That's because these pans are so efficient with heat that you could cook with them over a candle!! My daughter washed and dried one and then threw some butter in--no heat while she gathered some other ingredients together. She was totally surprised to find the butter melted! There was enough heat left in the bottom to melt the butter without turning on the burner. Anyone wanting to cut fuel costs should invest in these pans. I'd say a solid forth to one third savings could be realized easily. I have two identical skillets--one with copper and one stainless steel. Side by side cooking bacon and the copper bottom one is ready to turn minutes before the stainless steel one. So get the copper bottom ones.

Can't say enough good about these pans. I had no problem getting labels off or soaking to make sure the copper didn't turn dark. However, I don't give a kiss whether the copper stays pretty--I like the way these suckers cook!!

Well, so far so good... I have been using these for a few weeks now and I like them so far. The pots & pans are attractive and a nice weight (not too heavy but not cheap feeling either). I like the silicone on the handles but if you are using anything other than the fry pans they do tend to get a bit hot. I have found cleanup pretty easy and have noticed that if you use a 50/50 vinegar water solution and let it sit for a few minutes you can bring the pan back to new. I Haven't tried the double boiler yet but look forward to doing so soon. I have noticed, as other reviewers have noted, that you do need to adjust your cooking temperature down a bit when using these pans. When cooking meat, you must fight the urge to flip or move the meat around in the pan. The meat releases itself from the pan when it is ready to be flipped. Sounds weird, but it's true. If you try to turn it too soon, it will stick to the pan. This is where cooking with the right heat comes in. If your pan is too hot your meat will stick and burn. If the heat is just right it will cook nicely (beautiful brown crust) and release from the pan. Veggies and sauces seem to cook very nicely as well. Again, use a bit lower heat setting then you use to and a little olive oil in the pan with the veggies. As for eggs, let's just say that some things should just be cooked in a nonstick pan! LOL! All in all I am very happy and hope to be for a long time to come.

I recently bought the 14 piece Belgique set and I could not be happier. These pans cook your food very evenly, they are best cooked over a medium instead of high heat and they look great! If you're looking for a quality set of pans and don't want to spend hundreds of dollarsthese are for you.I never was a fan of glass lids but now I like seeing my food as it cooks and the silicone handles help to keep a good grip on them as you cook. My husband and I were in Macy's to look at Emeril's ProClad which they did not have in the store. The salesman convinced me to take a look at this set. He said he used to have a catering business and did all the cooking for his family. He had this set for about a year and a half and really liked it. He told us it was going on sale is a few days so I decided to go home and check the reviews. I had been researching cookware for months and since I wanted to switch to induction cooking I had decided I wanted the higher end from Emeril (I can't afford Allclad). My husband went back and bought the Belqique set for me for Mother's Day. He paid less than half of what I had expected to give for the ProClad. I have been very happy with this cookware. As a previous reviewer noted, these cook so well you don't care what they look like. The attractiveness does catch the eye but it is only the sprinkles on the frosting! I followed suggestions about using lower heat on my current electric stove and they really do cook faster with less energy. And they clean up real pretty;)

Macy's website no longer lists the 14 piece set but hopefully Amazon will get it again. Even at regular retail any Belgique is a good deal. Shop around, find it on sale and you get a steal.

I bought this set because it had every piece I wanted and it was on sale. Washed and used steamer, after I rewashed it noticed several things some brown spots on the bottem of the pan might have been the beginning of metal flaking off not sure. WONT KNOW BECAUSE I NOTICED THAT IN THE LID WATER STAYED BETWEEN THE GLASS AND METAL !!!!DISGUSTING that could cause mold and mildew to be cooked in my food. I washed several more of the lids with the same out come.I did read reviews before buying and there were so many good ones that I had thought maybe the one person that complained about water in the lid just got a defective set. I WAS WRONG !!!Returned and will be spending alot more money on a set of All Clad.Would try this set again IF it had metal lids.

Cast Iron Kettle Humidifier

Cast Iron Kettle HumidifierI just purchased a Cast iron humidifier and love it-$5.95 at the local thrift store.Cast iron needs to be seasoned, just like a cast iron skillet.Clean your cast iron item, dry it out, then rub bacon grease on it,inside and out(that's the best way)or olive oil or shortening and bake it in the oven for an hour or so-that should stop the rust, let it cool down in the oven. One reviewer said she was going to paint her's-that's probally not a good idea if you are going to use it-to many chemicals in the air.Oiling it will make it nice and black.

This cast iron kettle is very sturdy and it looks great on our wood stove.Keeping it full of water while burning a fire to keep the house warm is a great way to keep moisture in the air. Before using this kettle, it became hard to breathe since my nose and throat would dry out.Now there are no worries!

I would recommend this kettle for anyone who uses a wood stove or burns a fire for household heat.

We like this kettle very much.It could not be used as a teapot it gets rusty on the inside and it is very heavy and somewhat difficult to lift; but it sits on top of the wood stove and helps to humidify our house in the dry winter.Excellent value for the money!
