He said there's nothing flimsy about it and he appreciates that :)I like that it's deeper than others we have. You can put more in one pan without worrying about spilling over the edge. Even-heating and the fact that it can be placed in the oven are wonderful features!

this is a nice sturdy skillet with lots of room. The interior finish is good and seems to be holding up well. The bottom is well done and smooth, so with a little care it doesn't scratch my glass top stove.

This particular KitchenAid skillet was purchased as a replacement for my KitchenAid Gourmet Reserve 10-1/2" non-stick skillet.Although the 10-1/2" skillet has not come to its life expectancy as yet, the KitchenAid Gourmet Aluminum Non-Stick 12-1/2" skillet is serving as a supplementary utensil in the kitchen.

While the 12-1/2" skillet is advantageous because of the wide pan and its capacity, the disadvantage is that no glass cover that would fit the skillet snugly was available. This poses a grease-spatter hazard if cooking is done on over an open flame. The grease-spatter hazard may be reduced by employing a large wire mesh spatter shield over the skillet.(I believe amazon.com also sells these, or you may find one inexpensively at your local discount retailers).

Please note that the KitchenAid Gourmet Aluminum Non-Stick skillets now offered on amazon.com are not the Kitchen Gourmet Reserve skillets that were once offered. The KitchenAid Gourmet skillets have been redesigned to include rubber handle grip insulation, whereas the Gourmet Reserve only were solid metal handles. It may be possible to search on other internet websites for the Gourmet Reserve skillets, but the redesigned skillets are just as well-constructed, and are conservatively priced for your kitchen needs.

The KitchenAid Gourmet Aluminum Non-Stick 12-1/2" Skillet received 4 stars only because of the unavailability of the associated glass cover. Had a glass cover been available, this item would have received a rating of an outstanding 5 stars.

Bodum Chambord 21 by 21 cm, 8.3 by 8.3-Inch Cast Iron Enamel Grill Pan, Black

Bodum Chambord 21 by 21 cm, 8.3 by 8.3-Inch Cast Iron Enamel Grill Pan, Black ()You can't always be traipsing outside to use the grill, unless you live in the right part of the world for it or else have a very sheltered area. I love the way this grill pan brings the grilling indoors. True, it's got a small cooking area (21 centimeters square, just over 8 inches) but that's big enough for two hamburgers or a couple of small steaks or some vegetables. The pan has rather deep ridges, so the food rests above any fat that cooks out of it--and your food is embellished with very pretty grill marks.

This is a product that really begs the reviewer to mention pros and cons, so I will mention the most notable of them, starting with the negatives so I can finish with the good points:

CONS:

* This pan is heavy! Six pounds.

* Comes without a whisper of information on care or use of the product (this is not acceptable).

* The stainless steel handle stays cool and is easy to hold, but it seems to be just a bit loose from the get-go. Anyone have a foot-long screwdriver I can borrow?

* Speaking of the handle, does it have to be QUITE so long? I have room to store it, but do you?

* Takes some soaking and scrubbing to clean.

* The sides are low and there is some spatter, though less than I expected.

* Arrives from Amazon in a carton that's almost as big as a kayak.

PROS:

* It's sturdy; not going to warp or dent or deteriorate. Investment kitchenware.

* It's preseasoned and cooks beautifully with minimal oil.

* Works on any kind of burner (mine is electric).

* I love my black one but it does come in several bright enameled colors too.

* According to the Bodum site, you can put it in your dishwasher (if the handle fits).

* Though the price is steep, it compares favorably to other top-quality brands of cast-iron cookware.

So if you have the muscle, and the space in your kitchen for a specialized item like the Bodum Chambord grill pan, go for it because this is an excellent piece of equipment that you're sure to enjoy using for years and years.

()I love this because most of the grease that used to be on my steaks is now at the bottom of the pan. The only thing that would improve this is if they made a lid for it, because I feel like the grease is floating aroundthe kitchen everytime I cook meat without a lid. It is really well made though and should last a lifetime. Don't drop on your toes or you might break them since this is really heavy! If it wasn't this heavy though, it wouldn't last long. It's really easy to clean too.

()I've never been a big fan of grill pans I've always found that they don't sear well and are generally disappointing when compared to grilling on a real grill. The Bodum Chambord is the first grill pan I've used that works as advertised. The substantial cast-iron build means that once the pan gets hot it retains it's heat so it cooks the food faster, the small size means that it is easy to store in the kitchen and the grilling surface cleans up very easily. I've grilled everything from veggies, to burgers and dogs to sandwiches and they all came out great.

If you've never used a cast iron pan before they take longer to heat up so you have to be patient before you put your food on. The upside to this wait is that the pan also takes longer to cool down. While this pan isn't stuitable as a total relacement for a grill it's a nice option if you just want to grill indoors. I couldn't be happier with this pan.

()I am a vegetarian so I am not cooking steaks or chops on this pan, but I do cook things like veggie burgers and grilled cheeses, etc. I like the pan, although there are two things about it that are somewhat bothersome: you have to be extremely careful to cook your food evenly on it, otherwise the food easily burns and this makes for a difficult clean up. And, speaking of cleanup, the pan is difficult to clean in general, especially when food gets between the grooves; the other night I cooked some sauerkraut next to my veggie burger, and it was a minor nightmare cleaning the sauerkraut remnants later. So as long as you're careful not to let items burn and as long as you're choosy about only cooking items that won't be terribly difficult to clean up after, this is a good pan. I use it often and like it, even though I feel like I have to be especially careful when using it, in a way I wouldn't with another pan.

()I ordered this cast-iron grill pan, because I Love Grilled Peppers.I received a versatile grill pan that cooks evenly and delivers exactly what it's made to deliver: beautifully grilled food.

HERE ARE THE PROS:

1) If you're cooking meat, it keeps it above the oil. And it cooks it evenly, too.

2) The secondary handle makes it easy to lift and drain oil out of the pan.

3) Grilling vegetables is very simple -and they come out looking like I went to the trouble of borrowing my neighbor's barbeque.

4) Clean up is quick, *if* you wash the pan while it's still warm. (Don't allow it to sit with grease on it. No. Do not. It's NOT fun cleaning it cold. I speak from experience.)

5) Makes neat grilled sandwiches; they look " professional and everything." The kids also announced said sandwiches looked Expensive. (I made paninis with sun-dried tomatoes and cheese.)

6) The sides are low enough for easy serving.

7) Good, solid grill pan for the price.

8) At 8.3"x8.3" it's the perfect size for most stove-top grilling.

HERE'S THE CON:

1) This pan is very heavy. I'm disabled, and I must have help lifting and cleaning it if I'm tired and/or in pain.

I LOVE this Bodum Chambord pan! I recommend it without reservation.I cook vegetables three times daily, and it's a pleasure and a joy to have the option of indoor grilling.Just be aware when you order that you're getting the Real Deal -a grill pan designed to last a lifetime.

Mauviel M'steel Frying Pan, 8-Inch

Mauviel M'steel Frying Pan, 8-InchI bought the Mauviel M'steel Frying Pan in the 8 inch and 9.5 inch this Christmas to replace some Calphalon Non Stick pans that were wearing out.Real Simple magazine had a review on this brand and indicated they were a great buy/great find.

They arrived very well packed, and had a layer of wax on them to protect them as well.It was a bit daunting to get the wax off, and took a bit of time to cure them--we did the process (peanut oil and high heat) two times, and then were very careful when cooking with them for a few times after.

The effort was well worth it!The pans are the perfect sizes for just an egg (8 inch) or eggs or an omelette or potatoes (9.5 inch) and they are completely non stick now.The handle feels substantial and very comfortable (I have small hands, my honey has big hands and we both like the handle equally). My honey says that eggs taste better in these pans than any pan he has cooked with in many years--and he is a wonderful cook with lots of experience!

We do not use soap, and we wash out the pans by hand, dry them and hang from our pot rack in the kitchen which protects them from bumping into other pots and pans.

We have used the pans almost every day since Christmas--10 to 12 times each at least.

I really like the way they look too.Very utilitarian looking, they make a statement about how serious we are about cooking and preparing tasty meals. The old adage "use the right tool for the right job" applies here--these are definitely the right tools for this "cook a lot couple"!

We are extremely happy with these pans, and expect that they will serve us well for many years to come.

Simple elegance, functional, it just works.I use it for creeps, omelette, fish (not at the same time).Cleaning is simple just rinse with water or heat slightly and wipe clean with a paper towel.Looks like a very old piece in a matter of weeks, really cool patina.

Cast Iron Fajita Pan w/Wood Base

Cast Iron Fajita Pan w/Wood BaseThe quality of this pan is poor at best.

I bought two sets, they are both terrible.

The edges are rough, jagged, and sharp.

I will be returning these and purchasing the Lodge Logic.

I'm sure it will be worth the extra money.

Tramontina Pro 3004 Nonstick Aluminum Restaurant Fry Pan, 14"

Tramontina Pro 3004 Nonstick Aluminum Restaurant Fry Pan, 14'the quality is everything i expected. I was very happy to find a 'made in USA' product i could cook in.

Two cons for me, but neither is the products fault: it's really big I think the 14" diameter is the base, the top flairs out to several inches more. Think of where you'll store it before you buy it.The second is common to all teflon aluminum pans -you're not supposed to cook with higher than 'medium' heat -that REALLY draws out the cooking time. Again, not the product's fault-i should have known.

Could't be happier with this product. The size of the pan and the non-stick capability was the reason I purchased it, thanks

Presto 07045 Family-Size Cool-Touch Tilt'N Drain Electric Griddle

Presto 07045 Family-Size Cool-Touch Tilt'N Drain Electric GriddleI purchased this griddle intending to use it to cook pancakes, bacon, and to heat torillas.

First of all, the aluminum surface of the griddle is not as thick as I was expecting.I haven't measured it, but I'd estimate it's between 1/8" and 3/16" thick across most of the surface. As such, it does warp under high heat.It was set on top of my smooth top range (range was off and cold, of course!) and when I turned it past 450 degrees, I found that one of the 4 legs would be off the surface. There is a raised lip around the outer edge which would prevent liquids (pancake batter, beaten egg, etc) from spilling off. This is useful and well executed.

Previous reviews noted that your pancakes can come out "striped" due to the heating element. I underestimated this.Though made of aluminum, there definitely are vast differences in heat from one area of the griddle to another.I think this griddle would perform much better if the heating element covered more of the surface of the griddle, kind of like the design of an electric oven's broiler element.

For heating tortillas, I've got no complaints. And this griddle can get hot, as I've done chicken stir-fry and fajitas all on the surface of the griddle.

Overall, I think I paid a fair price for it, but I'd look for a more expensive, higher quality model next time around.

Having gone through several electric griddles over the yearsthis one is the pick of the litter. The tilt feature is nice to keep your bacon from deep frying in its own grease and makes clean up easier. The size is great since you can actually feed a crowd (thats why you bought it right?). There are some hot spots as usual with this type of item but nothing real serious. I would recommend this item if you want to cook up a pound of bacon at a time, a mess of pancakes or 6grilled cheese sandwiches.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE THIS GRIDDLE.We bought oversize to make more pancakes and thought the cool-touch edge was a great idea. The Tilt'N Drain sounds great, but a mere bump of the cool-touch edge and the griddle falls into the drain position. Not what you're looking for when pouring pancakes.First of all, it still only accommodates five normal size pancakes (four corners and one in the middle). The surface is not level, and all the pancakes run towards the center giving them a distinctive oval shape. The biggest disappointment is the heating element.I purposely pour the center one first, and the one closest to the heating source last. Despite my efforts the one closest to the heating element source turns dark brown in no time flat, and the one in the center is barely ready to flip. End result...I'm shopping for a new griddle.

Purchased this last Christmas. Our previous attempts to do pancakes for our family of 4 children were OK, but the small griddles and frying pans just didn't get the job done quickly enough. Most we could cook at a time were 5 in the circular Circulon electric frying pan. So we got this and it does the job. We're able to cook 8 to 12 pancakes at a time, so are able to cook the entire breakfast with just two batches.

I like the drain feature for bacon, but as other reviewers have indicated it slides into the drain position much too easily. It has never done so during cooking, so our pancakes have always turned out great. But while getting it out of the cupboard and cleaning it, those handles just pop out. Would be nice if they had provide some sort of lock or quick-release mechanism.

Also, as indicated by others, the heat is a little uneven. Pour batter in the top right corner last (next to where the heating element connects).

Want Presto 07045 Family-Size Cool-Touch Tilt'N Drain Electric Griddle Discount?

This griddle is BIG, which is what I wanted. If you want a big griddle, this is it.Keep in mind, the size makes it difficult to clean. It does not fit in my sink, so water often drips on the floor (without me knowing) when I clean it. However, this is not a problem with the griddle, just something to be aware of.

Unfortunately, the surface does not heat evenly, nor does the thermostat appear to be accurate. The middle of the griddle is about 15 F warmer than the setting on the thermostat while the sides were 50 F warmer, as measured with an IR thermometer. This is the only design flaw.

The griddle is level!Pancakes, scrambled eggs, and any other items that flow will stay where you put them.Other griddles are permanently tilted to allow grease to drain. This unit will tilt when you need it to drain (when cooking bacon for example), but stay level when you want it level.

The size is great, and I have not found anything that comes close to this.Without a doubt, I would purchase this again.

Anolon Ultra Clad Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware Set

Anolon Ultra Clad Stainless Steel 10-Piece Cookware SetI ordered this set using my frequent flyer miles. It is the nicest cookware set I've ever owned! My previous sets were non-stick, so it did take a little getting used to cooking with stainless steel (hot pan, cold oil; food won't stick). I've only been using it for about a month but they seem very durable. They are also very stylish! I'm very satisfied with the purchase.

These are made by Meyer Corp, who also makes Circulon, Faberware, KitchenAid, Silverstone and Bonjour products. All their brands are great. I you can get these pans for less than $300 than this is one of the best buys out there for Stainless steel cookware. Consumer reports rates this set very well. It retails for $399.99, which is much to high to pay, but amazon has them at a good $300. This set is tri-ply which means that it has 3 layers of metal. The center metal is aluminum which conducts heat better than other metals. They heat fast and uniformly, which makes it nice to cook anything on/in these. My set came with some minor cosmetic damage, whether due to shipping or manufacturing, but will not effect the performance of the cookware. These tend to be fingerprint magnets as well. Overall they are a great value for what you are getting. I would also recommend one good non-stick skillet for more delicate foods and when you don't want to cook with oils.

They clean up well and unlike the reviewer who said his stained easily they have not had any issues retaining color from anything cooked in them, or changing color. The handles are very sturdy and i can see these lasting a very long time under standard use. The handles are coated in s silicon rubber that stays cool/warm to the touch. They should be somewhat safer to use with utensils than their non-stick counterparts, but I've already put scratches in one of the sauce pans. On top of it all they are oven safe up to 400F in the oven and dishwasher safe as well. I will still clean mine by hand and use wooden or plastic utensils, just because I'm like that. The overall look is nice and they shine when clean and fingerprint free. I use mine on a gas range, but they say these work well on glass and induction based cooking tops as well. I really wanted to get an All-Clad set, but the price just ins;t justified for their product. This Anolon set has surpassed my expectations and I think that you'll enjoy cooking with it as much if not more than I do.

*I'll update my review with more as I continue to use this cookware.

I received this set yesterday, it's an excellent set of cookware. The pieces seem to be built in a very quality manner, and appear to be indestructible.I cooked a small meal, and can absolutely say that this set creates a very even distribution of heat and cooked everything very nicely.

The only issue is that this set can be bought much cheaper directly from the manufacturer.

The cookware set was bought for use on an induction cooktop. It meets all expectations and cleans easily.I would like to be able to find other sized pieces to add to my set.

I used to have three pans of All-Clad, and hoped, over time, to get more. I got a portable induction burner, which changed my cooking life, and needed appropriate pans. I got an inexpensive set at WalMart and though they weren't bad, I missed my wonderful cookware.I first bought the 1-qt saucepan and fell in love with it. I now have 3 more of this type. They are sturdy, quality pans, which also look great.

I don't like nonstick pans because one eventually ends up eating the finish, though I will get a frying pan eventually for the occasional fried egg. But, I don't really have trouble cleaning these pans. At worst, I will soak one for an hour or so, and then it cleans up easily. Usually, by the time I am done cleaning the other dishes, and if I have soaked the dirty pan while I am doing it, it cleans readily.I couldn't be happier.

Nordic Ware Pro Cast 12 Inch Saute Skillet

Nordic Ware Pro Cast 12 Inch Saute SkilletFor sauteing, or really any other kind of stove-top cooking, this pan is a win.The non-stick surface is unsurpassed; rather than some cheap coating, you get non-stick graphite on durable pressure-cast aluminum.I don't know exactly why the textured surface works so well, but it does!I have a complete set of cookware that has gone into disuse, as this has become my go-to pan.Nothing sticks to it, which allows me to use minimal cooking oil.Veggies stay crisp, meats are browned perfectly, and even scrambled eggs seem fluffier.I guess now I just have to figure out what to do with my old stuff... anyone want it?

I was on the search for a great non stick pan and browsed the web. I had not heard of Nordic Ware, but it came recommended. I looked it up, and while there were few reviews on Amazon I decided to try it. Upon receiving it, I had to cook something in it! The heat was very evenly distributed given I have an older model electric stove top (which is gives all my pots and pans a run for their money). Food DID NOT stick to it, it has a bumpy texture that stops anything from sticking. It is not the "teflon coated" that I am used to, but it performs better than any teflon coated pan that I've used. Given that I received this about 2 weeks ago, I cannot speak on the durability. However, the pan screams quality when you open it up and it has no rivets anywhere to get food into. Super easy to clean!

Buy Nordic Ware Pro Cast 12 Inch Saute Skillet Now

I've had this skillet for about a year now, I purchased it to replace an old teflon pan. I was looking for something that was made in the USA but wouldn't break the bank. This one fits the bill! Years ago I bought a Caphalon "nonstick" pan ($$$) that ended up in the garbage in about a year. Since then I have been getting the "cheap" ones and replacing them every few years. I absolutely love this skillet. It doesn't have teflon, it's some sort of textured surface but it is definitely nonstick. This pan is deeper on the end with the handle makes flipping omelets etc. very easy. Cleans up in a snap. Very well made. I have recommended this to my sisters. Will definitely purchase similar products.

I have only had this pan for a couple of weeks, but have used it at least daily, often more.It has an textured cooking surface which releases foods fairly well, and is easily cleaned. The pan is cast so there is no place of food to get stuck between the handle and the pan very nice!

Honestly though it is only time that will tell whether this is a durable pan, but the other reviewers seemed to indicate it is.I will re-post after 6 months.

December 2012 Update This pan had seemed to lose it non-stick qualities.I tried cleaning, and scrubbing (with safe scrubbers) all to no avail.I decided as a last ditch effort to try to re-season the pan, and it seems to have worked.Otherwise this pan has been fine, and heats evenly.

Will update as needed.

Corning Vision Visions Amber 10 3/4" Skillet with Lid

Corning Vision Visions Amber 10 3/4' Skillet with LidI prefer a non-toxic pan for cooking which is why I purchased this glass cookware.

For cooking vegetables and items that don't stick really badly, the Visionware has been great. I use this particular pan mainly to sautee or steam vegetables and to fry bacon.

It cleans up nicely when you soak it and scrub it out with a plastic scrubber. I then place it in the dishwasher for a thorough cleaning.

I have used Visionware for about 22 years, including this frying pan.I don't know why Visions made a 10" and a 10 3/4" skillet but I have both sizes andI have several of each due to my tendancy to batch cook.

The frying pan has never failed or exploded on me.

However, there have been some complaints about exploding Visionware (Google is your friend).

Some incidents can be attributed to thermal shock such as running cool water in a hot pot, or placing the hot item on a cool surface, or putting the cookware on a heat source with no water in it.

Also, if you have chipped, cracked, or scratched cookware, it is recommended that you discard it.

I would recommend carefully checking your cookware and discarding it if it is damaged.

You will want to avoid scratching it with metal utensils.

Staub 12" American Square Grill Pan

Staub 12' American Square Grill Pan, BlackI purchased the 10" Lodge Logic Grill Pan and the 10" Staub Grill Pan at the same time. The Staub pan is approximately three times the cost of the lodge logic pan. I find the Staub pan to be suburb in both look and feel, but both pans are entirely functional. Surprisingly, I found the lodge pan to have a smoother coating of outer enamel I was less worried about scratching my glass top stove when using it. The lodge pan is about 1/2" shorter than the Staub pan which may result in additional splatter. The cooking surfaces of both pans are the same size, however the surface of the lodge pan feels more porous than that of the Staub pan.

I found cleaning to be very simple for both pans. If you are having difficulty I suggest soaking the griddle surface in hot water and detergent for an hour. This gives a chance for the detergent to break down and release fats. If you want to prevent burning try cooking with temperatures no more than medium high this is stated in the included manual. Be sure to give your pan a good coat of olive oil when cooking I use the pressurized spray olive oil as it is far easier to get an even coat.

Staub Grill Pan Review Summary:

Pros (Compared to Lodge Logic): Height (Approx 1/2" Taller than Staub Grill Pan), Quality of Cooking Surface Enamel, No Pour Spout, General Appearance

Cons (Compared to Lodge Logic): High Cost, Smoothness of Outer Enamel

Overall Stars Staub 10" Grill Pan: 5/5

Overall Stars Lodge Logic: 4/5

If both pans had been the same height I would have given both a rating of 5. The rest of the cons are outweighed by the difference in cost between the pans. At it's price point, the lodge pan is still a very good deal. If you have a modest budget by all means purchase the lodge pan. It works. If you are concerned about splatter and visual appeal and have the budget buy the Staub.

I have used both griddles twice now and am posting pictures and as you will see both appear brand new though they have been used.

This pan is da shazzizo.Really.

HEAVY cast iron, with a glossy enamel exterior and a rough black enamel interior. It really doesn't need seasoning, as the enamel doesn't rust or stick.Preheat it until smoking hot, add a seasoned steak, leave on for a minute or two, rotate 90 degrees to get those great crosshatched grill marks, flip and repeat, then put into a preheated 450 oven for 4+ minutes, depending on how thick the steak is and how rare you want it.

Seriously foolproof steakhouse good steak, every time, as long as you don't over cook.

The same technique works really well for fish as well.Whatever you cook the sear and blast method works great, and it's easy to make pan sauce.

Although I give this five stars, be warned that it's not easy to clean.Forget trying to get it back to factory condition, ain't gonna happen. However, because the cast iron isn't exposed, but instead your dealing with black matte enamel, you can use dish soap and a scrubbie to get the worst, then leave it on medium heat to dry.

I use this pan constantly, particularly in the winter when it's not so much fun to grill, I'm giving my Alaskan brother one for his birthday. However, even in the summer months it still sees a lot of use.

This and my 9 qt. dutch oven get the heaviest use, and the biggest bang for my cookware buck.

Buy Staub 12" American Square Grill Pan Now

The day I got it from Sur La Table I went and bought two New York Strips to break it in.They were text-book picture perfect with an external sear with blood red rare interiors.Incredible for seared steaks or burgers.Preheat on high heat for at least five minutes before cooking.Get it smoking hot before you put the meat on the grill.Juices from deglazing or rendered fat can easily be poured off with the two pour spouts to make sauces or reductions. And it is oven and broiler safe. You will not be sorry!

Read Best Reviews of Staub 12" American Square Grill Pan Here

Smoke concentrates in the grooves between the ridges, which enhances the taste of seared steaks. You can make the grill marks as light-brown or black as you want. This sure beats trying to grill outdoors in the middle of winter, and the results are delish.

If you don't have a strong hood fan, you may have to open some windows and close bedroom doors, this thing can get generate as much smoke as grilling on the barbie.

For water-softening of burnt residue, pouring water into a searing hot enameled pan might crack the enamel due to differential contractions of rapidly cooled enamel and iron.A safer technique is to let the pan cool for a good 20 minutes, then pour in water and reheat the stove, letting the water low-boil for awhile, e.g. 30 minutes. You can use dishsoap or not.I just pour the soapless water out and wipe with a some paper towels.I don't worry about getting it spic and span, a little gray-browning of the last towel is okay with me, I treat this like my seasoned cast iron skillets and woks.

This worked well for its purpose but after only 6 or so uses it cracked, while heating, close to the angle of the metal spout.Since others have reported similar cracks, the sharp angle of the spout is presumably a design flaw.

Browne Foodservice Heavy Duty Non Stick Fry Pans with Grip

Browne Foodservice 58 14828 5-Gauge Heavy Weight Non Stick Fry Pan with Grip, 8-InchI bought 2 of these and two Cuisinart non stick pans of the same size so I could make 4 Vietnamese Banh Xeo at a time. Which I did last Wednesday night. All the pans worked well, but these were less expensive and heavier, though somewhat less elegant than the Cuisinarts, which I think were $28 each. I will buy other sizes of this product line. I especially like the comfort of the grips. They are supposed to be removable, but they are quite tight around the handle. I was worried about putting them in the oven, but I visited the Browne-Halco website where there was a pdf catalog. I found the product and learned that these blue handles are heat resistant to 572F/300C. My oven will only achieve 550F, so I doubt I'll ever need to remove them. Thank you, Amazon, for the free shipping. I ordered late Monday afternoon and they arrived on Wednesday, just as promised. We are in a very rural area. How do you do it? (Yes, I know; your email reveals that you shipped it in the small hours of Tuesday morning.)

I usually use a 10" (I only cook for one), but with the egg whatever in that pan, I always seem to need another smaller pan to heat sauce or refried beens or whatever at the same time and this guy does the job and looks like it will be around long after I am not.

This item was purchased because an 8" pan was a bit too big for my intended use.7" would be perfect! It is actually 7 3/4", not 7" as listed in the product description and stamped on the bottom. On the other hand, it is quite thick, distributes heat well, and has a non-PFOA non-stick coating. It's too early to tell, but I suspect the Eclipse non-stick coating will continue to release perfectly. My pan has a flat bottom and doesn't spin, but like most aluminum pans, that may change if it is overheated.Cosmetics aside, it is a very nice but not that little NSF skillet.

Revere Copperclad Bottom 1-Quart Covered Saucepan

Revere Copperclad Bottom 1-Quart Covered SaucepanThe difference in quality and weight of newly manufactured (overseas) Revere saucepans and those made in America half a century ago is obvious when placed side by side. I am STILL using several 1960's pans, and they remain in BETTER shape after all these years of use than the "new" ones I bought that dent so easily. Young owners of the "new" Revere will not know the difference, making "ok" or "acceptable" the new standard. How sad is THAT?!

Our older Revereware pans are great, and part of the reason they're great is the really heavy bottom, which distributes heat evenly and extends the life of the pan.

This pan has a nice copper bottom, which is good for heat distribution I guess, but it's disappointingly thin. It's not the quality it used to be, or so it seems to me.

This pan is not good quality. It is much lighter than the olds ones that were made in the USA! This is made in Indo-China and that should explain it all. Too bad that a product named after an American Patriot left the US to save money.

I have used Revere Ware copper clad pots and Farber aluminum pots for 42 years of marriage and two young girls who were hard on the pots. The Farber aluminum clad pots all buckled from the differential expansion of the aluminum cladding relative to the steal body of the pot. This took many years of use before all the aluminum clads became useless. My Revere Ware copper clad pots are all as good as the day we got them in the 1960s!So two weeks ago I decided to replace the worst of the buckled pots with new Revere Ware copper clad pots. What a mistake that was. Niced and shiny steel pots with a copper cladding for even heating. After a few day I finely used them both, I put two inches of water in the two quart pot place some frozen vegetables in also.Within minutes of heating the pot it suddenly buckled worse than any of my aluminum clad pots and of coarse heating took a long time due to the uneven base of the pot.Unfortunately, I discarded the boxes etc before ever using the pots and now have to determine if Revere will replace. On the bright side my three quart Revere Ware pot has not buckled yet.

Here are two observations, the China made pots from Revere are made of thinner copper and steel components and Revere has lost its reputation for producing quality products. It is my fault for not having read the prior reviews before considering purchase of these pots.If Revere is willing to degrade its flagship product of the last century for a little extra profit then how are we to trust any of their products. It is sad to see fine American brands degraded like this.

With the above said, lots of excellent products come from China, so this is not a China versus US made issue, its about what US manufactures are willing to do in order to make a bit more profit by sending proction oversas and reducing quality standards. All my current computers and many other high tech items are made in China and they are excellent, this is about Revere Ware and its loss of quality.Revere 3514027 2-Quart Covered Saucepan

I have a larger RevereWear, copper bottom saucepan/double boiler that I have used for over 30 years and decided that I needed a smaller one, too. It is an excellent product and if I am not "raving" over this one purchase, it's because it's exactly what I expected in looks and function. It did arrive in a timely manner. Although shipping was almost half the price of the product, at least it was not more than the item (with many on-line and catalog companies it is!)

Oster CKSTSKFM05 16-Inch Electric Skillet, Black and Stainless Steel

Oster CKSTSKFM05 16-Inch Electric Skillet, Black and Stainless SteelI bought this skillet a few months ago to replace my old worn out one. I like to cook quick meals for myself with a skillet because of my job. I'm always on the go and I need a easy, fast, cook and clean for one person and out the door way of life. I have gone thru many cheaper skillets thru the years and Oster makes the most durable, long lasting surface I know. This skillet is big enough for family meals, and the thermostat works, not like the other brands. Simmer is Simmer.

Oster CKSTSKFM05 16-Inch Electric Skillet, Black and Stainless Steel

i've been looking at electric skillets for a while now and finally decided to get this one. it was excellently packaged when it arrived so it came safe and sound. after removing it from the packaging and seasoning it as recommended, i was anxious to try it out. it's size makes storage a bit of a challenge, which i didn't take into consideration when i bought it, but that's my problem and has nothing to do with how it works. LOL the black and chrome goes perfectly in my kitchen and blends in well with other utinsels.

Cooking: i don't know if this is common with this particular skillet, but mine has a very definite hot spot on the opposit end of the plugin. this means that half of my chicken as rather burnt and half was perfect. i thought it might be an abhoration or something but fried potatoes did the same thing. 2 stars

Control Dial: there are no marks between degree temps. the temp goes up in 50 degree incriments, but there is no way to tell where anything in between them is. for instance, there is 320 and 370 degree marks, but nothing for 325 or 350 degrees. it's all by guess and by golly. however, the numbers seem to be protected somewhat and don't appear to want to rub off with use. 3 stars

Lid: the lid doesn't fit as snugly as i would like, but it's better than some things i have. however, it does have a steam vent on it and that can be problematic when cooking rice dishes. being clear is a huge benefit as there's no need to lift it to see how things are going. 4 stars

so overall, my rating for this skillet would be 3 stars. i hope this helps someone who's contemplating this skillet. just remember that it is quite large so if you have a small family it may be more than you need. but for larger families it would be perfectly sized.

The Amazon product description for this description reads:"...a 16 inch skillet," and "The unit provides a smooth cooking area (measuring a generous 16 by 20-inches) that heats quickly and evenly."

In reality, the actual dimensions of the cooking area are only 11 5/8" inches by 15 inches.

I'm not one to nit-pick minor deviations in product descriptions, but the product description on this electric skillet is not even close to being accurate.

I thought that I had ordered an over-sized skillet, and I was surprised and disappointed at how small it was when I took it out of the box.For the life of me, I can't figure out how the author of this product description came up with a "cooking area measuring a generous 16 by 20-inches."

I have notified Amazon and intend to return the unused skillet for a full refund and continue my search for a larger skillet.

I've purchased many items from Amazon, and have always received products that have matched (or come close to matching) the described described dimensions that I have ordered until this electric skillet.

Amazon either should fix the incorrect product description or deliver an electric skillet with the described dimensions.Until Amazon does so, hopefully this post will save others from making the same mistake that I did.

The Oster CKSTSKFM05 16-Inch Electric Skillet, Black and Stainless Steel is very well made. You can refer to other reviews regarding the cooking performance such as the temperature control actually works! For anyone interested in an electric skillet you might want a better description:

The actual cooking bowl is a nominal 12" x 15".Regardless of the inaccuracy of the description on the web site, this is a nice size skillet.MOST IMPORTANT...and this is specifically what I was looking for, the wall height -on the insideis 3" deep!!!THAT is a big plus in my book, because few skillets have that kind of depth.

Overall dimensions are 12" x 20" where the handles and the electric plug controller make up the difference between the 15" bowl and 20" overall length.

Overall height is 5 1/4" without lid, 8" with lid, and just under 6" with the lid upside down for storage. The glass lid fits nicely and has a hole for steam venting.

This skillet is well made yet not too heavy. It has the isolated "stay cool" handles (probably bakelight) so that you can pick it up even when it's hot.The electric cord is just over two feet.It is high quality, very flexible 16 gauge wire with the high temperature insulation (HPN).If the length seems short, I would personally say that the last thing I want on an appliance like this is a long dangling cord.Use it properly and plug it in right next to an outlet. If you need more length then purchase a good quality heavy duty flexible extension cord.

The temperature control knob provides variable temperature control from "simmer" through 420°F.Markings are in both °F and °C and are graduated; "simmer", 220, 270, 320, 370 and 420°F (English) and 105, 130, 160, 190, and 215°C (Metric). The temperature control is rated 15 amps.

The skillet has a 1 year limited warranty.

I'm not certain if there is a perfect electric fry pan. As it stands, this one isn't perfect but it offers more than the other ones I've owned.

Based on the size, it is a little bigger than my last one. I could probably do a large pot pie or a stroganoff for 5-6 people in this or a batch of cocktail meatballs for a party.

Other reviewers have reported hot spots. I haven't had a problem with hot spots. Everything seems to heat and/or cook evenly and consistently.

I like the non-stick interior which seems fairly sturdy. No scratching problems to report, but I do use Teflon utensils. I like the glass hood. I get to observe the cooking process and tend to not remove the lid as frequently as I did with a metal lid.

The temp control is calibrated in 50 degree increments. There is no in-between indicators, but this is not a problem for me.

You can supposedly put this in a dishwasher. Since this is too big for my dishwasher, I hand wash and it is a snap. Food releases efficiently and the interior is still as pristine as it was when new.

The big selling point for me is temperature control, high walls that prevent splattering, easy clean-up, and contained cooking. This does a good job and keeps clean-up to a minimum.

Calphalon Tri-Ply 12-Inch Stainless Steel Everyday Pan with Cover

Calphalon Tri-Ply 12-Inch Stainless Steel Everyday Pan with CoverThis pan is somewhat bigger than I expected. The side walls spread out from the base a little more than it seems to look in the picture, but it's a fantastic pan. It's heavy and the base fits perfectly on the largest element of my electric stove. Looks great and fits in with the rest of the Tri-Ply line. The clear lid is great for watching the status of what's cooking without interrupting it. It's large enough to brown at least 3 pounds of ground beef with plenty of room to spare, so capacity should not be a concern at all. You could probably fry 4 medium size chicken breasts or maybe 5 pork chops at once without crowding the pan. I just got this pan, but I expect to use it quite a bit.

Great multi-purpose pan.I switched from Caphalon non-stick cookware to Caphalon's stainless steel after the non-stick surface became worn (which is really unsafe given the chemicals used for the non-stick coating).Anyways, it's a little bit of an adjustment going from non-stick to stainless steel. When you use non-stick, one becomes used to not having to use much oil and still not having a problem with food sticking to your cookware. With stainless steel, I think the trick is to pre-heat your stainless steel pan, cook at a little bit lower setting, and you'll figure out it's just as good as non-stick.My everyday Caphalon works great after I figured out how to use it...cleans easy too. After cooking, I just pour a little water in the pan and let it soak for 30 mins and anything stuck on the pan just comes right off.I also use Bar Keeper's friend cleanser and this stuff cleans it perfectly.

It is the one. It is the most amazing, most gorgeous pan i have ever encountered. It is build very solid, i never felt it was flimsy or breakable. It is nice and large but not so large that it heats unevenly on the burners. It is OVEN SAFEsear the steak, pop in oven, voila you made an awesome steak on a stove top! The ban is not non stick but if you work at the proper heat for the food, heat up the pan, then add your oil/butter and HEAT IT UP TOOthe ban is virtually non stick. I can make MOST items in this pan but there are a few items i do prefer to make in a nonstick panlike fry potatoes. For some reason i can not fry potatoes in this, they stick , i ssuspect because the oil gets starchy and in that case a non stick surface is needed.

Bar Keepers friend will keep this pan looking 100% new . It is dishwasher safebut dish washing detergents will make it dull but cleanso i usually clean in dishwasher then follow up with barkeepers friendvoila new pan!.

FYI: I read on another site that you should grease it with a thin coating of oil, in case anyone also read thatPLEASE NEVER DO THIS. Stainless steel is NOT cast iron. It will be gross .

I use this pan several times a week to stir-fry vegetables.I don't have any complaints. You won't get much better than this unless you're willing to spend much much more (such as buying a copper-clad or all copper version), but this pan performs well enough on both gas and electric ranges, I don't think you'd feel a need to.

Just be aware that if you're buying this to add on to an existing set of Calphalon products, it may look slightly different than your other pans (not really a big deal), as Calphalon has a had a few different Tri-Ply variations over the years.

Vollrath Z4010 Wear-Ever CeramiGuard II Interior Fry Pan with Cool Handle, 10-Inch

Vollrath Z4010 Wear-Ever CeramiGuard II Interior Fry Pan with Cool Handle, 10-InchI bought my first Lincoln Wearever pan probably about 12 years ago.I have both a 10 inch and 7 inch pan, but only the 7 inch pan has the ceramigard coating. In using these pans nearly daily for all of that time, I haven't had to replace either of them until today.

I suppose you'll want to know why I'm buying another one, so to make a long story short, a friend was using the pan while we were camping and he was using a serrated knife to cut vegetables while he was cooking. In the pan.:-(Well they don't make a non stick pan that can put up with that abuse and my non-stick coating is now trashed, so here I am looking for a replacement 10 inch pan.The old one was not a ceramigard finish, but used the older wearguard finish.

As for my experiences in using these pans, they take quite a lot of abuse.I've used these on high heat for stir fry's and never had the coating break down. The only thing you do have to worry about is smoking your frying oil which will cause the oil to polymerize onto the coating and it's then very hard to remove. Also, the weight of these pans is superior to everything else I've found which helps to ensure even cooking. My old 10 inch pan weighs about 32 ounces with the rubber handle removed and most of that weight is in the thick bottom and sides of the pan. Finally, the nice gently sloped sides make flipping food very easy.I can even do eggs over easy without picking up a spatula in the morning (note: this takes a bit of practice).

To me, this is a no-brainer.Just buy it and don't think too much about it.It's exceedingly rare to find something of this quality in today's market.

Bought this pan to replace the one I bought over 20 years ago. That's right 20 years. My old pan finally wore out, mostly because other pans were being stored on top of it.The coating is the best out there and 20 years of regular use proves it.

Had this pan for about a month now.Good non-stick surface.Quality construction; sits flat on the burner.I was afraid the blue handle might come loose, but it has stayed tight so far.The only complaint is with the shipping. This pan comes from outside restuarant supply co. and they simply stuffed the pan between the layers of a flattened box, applied tape and mailed it.A good pan like this deserves better treatment.

Shabu Shabu Pan 24 cm./9 1/2' 2.1 Liter Made In JapanTrue dimensions are more like:

4.5" tall (height of the stack)

9.5-10" diameter

3" deep basin.

It is probably good for 2-3 people but not much more as this is a smaller pot.Contact area on the bottom is a 1" wide ring and found this to cause troubles with induction stoves. As designed, gas and charcoal is probably better.Looking for a flat bottom version for my induction stove. The sticker says Made-in-Japan but doesn't seem to have any impact on the quality in this case.

I am very happy with this product and so were my guest who came to dinner. In fact, the item was so impressive that it never made it to the table. I washed it and poured the water in the pot while my son took down the burner. In the short time that this was happening, our guest mentioned that Shabu Shabu was her husband's favorite meal, but because they live in Palau, I knew that in order to eat Shabu Shabu they would have to go out to town.I walked back to the table, picked up the pot, and emptied out the water.I grabbed the kitchen towel and wiped it dry and started to put it back in the box.I gave it to my girlfriend and she was speechless. It was a pleasure to see the smile on her face when she realized the pot was now hers.We took out my Shabu Shabu stone pot and enjoyed our supper. It's a healthy meal, and a lot of fun when friends are over.

Next time I would get a larger pot to accommodate more people for supper. It is a very attractive piece on the table.

Lodge 2HHMC2 Hot Handle Holders/Mitts, multi-color Peppers, Set of 2

Lodge 2HHMC2 Hot Handle Holders/Mitts, multi-color Peppers, Set of 2We invested in cast-iron cookware recently and bought two packages of these. They are fantastic. They get warm from the heat, but never hot.I tried keeping them on the handles all the way while I cooked, but found that they can burn if they're too close to the flame (I guess that is pretty obvious!)However, if you pull them offthe handle halfway so that they are away from the flame, you won't lose them and they'll be there when you need to move the pot.Definitely required for Lodge cookware.

This is a heavy, good quality fitted hot pad for your cast iron skillet. I have used these hot pads to remove 400F skillets from a hot oven. The skillet had been used to bake cornbread. The hot pad protected my hand from the hot skillet handle while I transfered it from oven to counter. I would buy these again.

I use cast iron cookware a lot, and used to drape one of those square "hot pads" over the skillet handles just so I wouldn't absent mindedly grab one. These and the other Lodge handle holders are now a staple.I also learned what another reviewer learned, and you keep them halfway up the handle while the heat is on... because they can scorch. You still need oven mitts for baking, but these are top notch for cast iron skillet use.

These are basically the same as the other Lodge 2 Piece Hot Handle Holder set, except the come decorated with hot peppers. My favorite.

They have a silicon lining inside, which greatly reduces heat. The outside fabric is durable, and the stitching is good.

They're great to have around, and these are much more fun than the boring black color.

I bought about a dozen of these holders.I use them solely for my cast iron skillets. They work very well with an electric range, however beware of using it with a gas range. They tend to catch fire easily on medium to high heat. They have lasted me a few years. They have cloth hooks on the ends I use to hang them on the cupboard handles.Over time the hooks tend to wear out and rip but it doesn't effect the intended use.I will continue to purchase these over the years.
