Bialetti 8-Piece Aeternum Ceramic Non-Stick Cookware Set, Red

Bialetti 8-Piece Aeternum Ceramic Non-Stick Cookware Set, RedI'm italian living in the USA and I bought the Bialetti Brand because is very well knowed in Italy as a good brand. But these items started to chip out pieces and being scretced since the first 2 days. All of them, evne if some of the pans I probably used only 2 or 3 times they alraedy look old and you can see the metal. Unfortunately when I received them I threw away ALL my old pans and now I'm stuck with this horrible chipped ones that I just bought 4 months ago!!! i oly used soft sponges and organic mineral based soaps. They are also starting to get "brownish"in the middle hwere the heat is stronger. I'm EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!! Just don't buy it.

I bought the 3 skillets from BB&B. Not Cheap. The inside of the skillets is starting to turn black where it is like there were scratches. I never use anything but plastic or wood when I am cooking with these skillets. The red exterior is pealing on the bottom. I now wish I never bought them. They do not wash up easy anymore and I only had them for a little over a month.

I bought this set as a result of receiving a larger pan with a cover for my birthday. i loved cooking in this non-stick pan so much that I researched getting a whole set to replace my mis-matched pots and pans. I am so pleased with these pots and pans. I cook every night and have loved these pans from the moment i started using them. Yes the ceraminc coating chips a little where they touch each other when you stack them in the cabinet but it doesn't effect how they cook food. They clean up very easilyso easy it seems too good to be trueand cook food evenly and perfectly. I absolutely recommend getting these pans! well worth the money we spent on them!!!!

I also recommend the all-in-one 7 use tool that comes up with these as a separate item to order, it's been a perfect

match for cooking with these pots and pans so as to not harm their finish.

I bought this set because it says it is "ceramic". After just one use, one of the pots started "peeling" along the rims. This must be enamel, not ceramic. I have never heard of ceramic that peels! What a mess, having to repack it!I like buying items from amazon because of the ease of returns, but this one was not easy. Stay away from this "ceramic" cookware!!!

The Bialetti 8 piece set is brilliant to use and cook on. They are nice and clean. However I-Parcel lost my order. Amazon quickly dispatched another via international courier. When receiving it the box was damaged and the rims of the pans were scratched. Out of desperation of needing cookware I did not bother to return it as the costs of shipping from Australia outweight the costs of the actual item. So I am stuck with good performing cookware that dont look presentable at all. Dissapointed with the appearance however love the way these cook.

Steamer Skillet by VitaChef Electric Multi Cooker/Steamer

Steamer Skillet by VitaChef Electric Multi Cooker/SteamerThe VitaChef makes cooking easy, fun, and nearly impossible to mess up, even for a less than average cook like me!AND it is super easy to clean!!!You can do just about everything in the VitaChef, bake, steam, fry and more. It's big enough to cook a whole chicken, but small enough to fit on your counter without taking up tons of space. The easy to follow recipes, temperature guides, and step by step videos on the VitaChef website make cooking nearly fool-proof!My twelve year old son, recently showed an interest in cooking and the VitaChef has turned that interest into a possible career goal!!Using the VitaChef in the past week, he's made turkey burgers, steamed corn, chicken alfredo, and steamed spinach. All of which were delicious!

I bought the Vitachef a few weeks ago. I chose Pizza Rolls as my first experiment, just to get the ball rolling. I have to tell you, they were amazing! Never tasted that good in an oven. I quickly graduated to better fare. Rice and broccoli, steamed chicken and vegetables, steak. I made steamed potatoes three days in a row. I steam them and mash them up with butter and milk.I make a breakfast sandwich and crack the egg directly over the bread and let it cook with the lid on. It makes a sunny-side up egg sandwich! If you know me, that is a dream come true. I got the Vitachef because I was sick of washing my girlfriend's pots and pans, but it ended up making me a curious chef. I just grab stuff and see what I can come up with . The Vitachef is a great investment. It has made life in the kitchen a little more bearable.

Cast Iron Steak Weight & Bacon Press

Cast Iron Steak Weight & Bacon PressIt is a functional item and arrived as described and quickly.I think it works fine but had a few flaws in the casting that I wish that they had caught.A little better quality control is needed. Not worth returning, I will just grind the spots in question to protect my cookwares finish.

Nice heavy bacon/sausage press. It's cast iron so don't get it wet but it's exactly what it looks like. Very solidly made. The wood handle is screwed in at both ends and the wood isn't finished on the ends, so again, if you get it wet, that might be a problem, but if you keep it clean with a brush or scraper, this utensil is likely to last a long, long time. Can't go wrong.

Buy Cast Iron Steak Weight & Bacon Press Now

When I got this, not only was the metal and handle sticky with some unknown substance, but the press was actually warped in the middle so it wouldn't lay flat. The texture on the bottom is very small squares packed closely together. Not what I was looking for. I returned it post-haste.

Do yourself a favor and spend another 5 bucks on a QUALITY press. I bought the Outset Q111. Significantly better.

This is great for flattening bacon and steaks. I highly recommend this for a friend and would buy again. It has small bumps on the flat, heavy, device. Well made. Needs to be seasoned and dried well after washing as it is metal and can rust if not treated. It does have a sticker that states "Made in China".

Want Cast Iron Steak Weight & Bacon Press Discount?

I washed this item before putting it to use. While washing it, it was literally turning to rust in my hands. My boyfriend kept saying..Naaah, that's not rust. But, what the hell else could it be? Rusty water just beading up on the press almost as fast as it was wet.

Then the handle got super sticky and it's as if it's coated in some weird adhesive or something.

I'm going to return this thing as soon as possible. Do yourself a favor, get one from a name brand company. I actually thought I was ordering the Kingsford one but, I ended up with this and well, it sucks.

Lodge Enamel 11-inch Skillet

Lodge Color EC11S43 Enameled Cast Iron Skillet, Island Spice Red, 11-inchThis handy little skillet is actually a HEAVY WEIGHT! It has the durability of cast iron, and the convenience of non-stick coating. I hesitated when ordering because I have had teflon skillets that would flake after a while, but this is not like the non-stick of old. It has a 25-year limited warantee!

Since I have an electric stove, it took some time to learn how to adust the stove because it retains the heat so well. I finally started turning the stove off the last 10 minutes or so. That works great for me. Also, if I'm cooking a steak, I sear it good on one side, turn it, and finish cooking in the oven at 450* for another 10 minutes. That's another thing I like...the fact that the skillet can go right from the stovetop to the oven. Careful, because the handle does get very hot, and also the skillet is HEAVY because it's cast iron, but it's a good heavy!

After using this skillet I can state that it has all the features of the French Le Creuset line at a quarter the price. No need to say more than that.

If you like using cast iron cookware you will be well served with this line of Lodge Enamel which however, unlike the original made in USA products, are now made in China. Though I prefer to buy American, I am so satisfied that I went ahead and ordered the Lodge Enamel 10 inch Grill Pan as well. These products have an enamel coating on both the outside and the inside surfaces and, unlike the original Lodge products, require no seasoning.

Cast iron cookware works extremely well on induction plates as the temperature can be adjusted in very fine increments and the entire pan heats evenly through magnetic induction without any hot spots. The combination of cast iron and induction yields great results.

Four stars instead of five as the inside enameling should be applied in a thicker coat to better hide the casting grain.

This product is a nice idea but designed and executed poorly. You would be far better off buying a regular cast iron skillet and "season" it.I bought this pan thinking that the inner ceramic finish would make it a breeze to cook with.In fact, the "Use and Care" instructions that come with the pan make no mention of it needing any seasoning. The only recommendation was to use a little oil to prevent sticking.Don't get me wrong; I love my Lodge Dutch ovens. The quality of the ceramic finish on the inside and outside of the Dutch ovens is extremely smooth and provides a very stick-resistant surface. That's how I was suckered into buying this pan. Boy was I in for a surprise. The food surface finish is very rough. In fact, it looks exactly like one of their "pre-seasoned" regular cast iron surfaces, maybe even rougher. The first time I tried to fry some eggs in it (and they were literally floating in oil) the eggs stuck down so badly that I had to rip and scrape them out of the pan.So now I have an expensive, yet worthless frying pan that I have to be really careful about putting into water when it's hot and dare not put over a strong flame (such as a campfire) that has a "ceramic finish" on the cooking surface that is way, way, way, worse than a properly seasoned regular cast iron pan.No thanks.Sometimes you win by buying the cheaper brand (Lodge Dutch oven vs. Le Creuset) sometimes you get stung.

I love cast iron and could not imagine cooking without it.I can not use my original Lodge on my induction cooktop. I wanted a replacement and an Enameled cast iron product was a great solution.Le Creuset is the highest rated however,a very expensive choice compared to Lodge.I was excited to find a Lodge enamel at Target and purchased mine about 3 mos. ago.It began chipping alomost immediately, mostly around the handle(s) and rim.Now large chunks are coming off the bottom. It is unusable.I am going to try to take back to Target and will purchase a Le Creuset as soon as possible.

Did extensive research before buying this skillet. Knew that there were some unhappy folks out there, but also figured there are ALWAYS people ready to give negative reviews about anything whatsoever. Plus, I'm pretty careful and conscientious in the kitchen; I'm not going to go banging this pan around.

Today makes one week that I've owned this pan. After using it all afternoon to make bechamel sauce on medium low heat, I noticed that there's a chip in the enamel, where the handle meets the body of the pan.

This pan has never seen high heat. It's been babied for the whole week I've owned it. And it's chipping.

On one hand, it WAS only 1/3 the cost of a comparable skilled by Le Creuset. (Trying to remain upbeat, here.)

On the other hand, there really is no excuse for this. I can see chipping after a year... or even six months of heavy use and occasional carelessness. But come on.... one WEEK?

It's disappointing. I wanted so badly to love this pan.

I guess I'll use it as long as I can and never get another Lodge ceramic enamel product. I wouldn't recommend this product to my friends. Or even to my enemies.

Berndes Milestone 11-Inch Square Grill Pan

Berndes Milestone 11-Inch Square Grill PanI searched for years for a grill pan that would function as a stove top broiler, leaving grill marks on meat and fish. They were available for all range tops, but mine, which has a smooth glass top. I needed an absolutely flat bottomed grill pan.The Berndes Milestone is exactly as I would have designed a pan for my needs. It has the broiler-like ribs in the interior, but a flat bottom for the stove top. The pan is no lightweight, coming in at 4.5 lbs on my digital scale. Even though it has a non-stick interior, I think it cleans up best if a light brushing of oil is applied before grilling. I've pan broiled everything from filet mignon, salmon, hot dogs, to Jaccard meat tenderized chuck strips and everything has cooked exactly as I desired.

I have several Berndes pans that function wonderfully. However, the Berndes grill pan is not one of them. The problem is you cannot get an aluminum pan hot enough to produce good sear marks.Try as I might I can only produce barely visible grill marks on a variety of foods with the Berndes grill pan.In contrast, my cast iron LeCreuset grill pan produces beautiful dark sear marks every time on the same burner on my stovetop.Additionally, the handle on my Berndes grill pan came loose after every use.The pan is not well made nor does it function well. Save your money and buy a cast iron grill pan.

This pan arrived with a defect and I contacted customer support (unfortunately, I did not use the pan within the Amazon return period).

After several unanswered emails to the customer service email address at the Berndes site, I contacted them by phone and they said they would send a part that I was to use to repair the pan.Bad enough that it wasn't immediately replaced, but I never received the part.

Most people expect higher-end cookware with a "lifetime guarantee" to have decent customer service, or some semblance thereof, but none exists here.

My first and last Berndes purchase was a complete waste of time and money.

Guy Fieri 12-in. Pre-Seasoned Light Weight Cast Iron Fry Pan, Hot Rod Red

Guy Fieri 12-in. Pre-Seasoned Light Weight Cast Iron Fry Pan, Hot Rod RedThis skillet works really well, has a nice weight, cleans up nicely. Would be a great gift for a cook.

I bought this since I needed another skillet and wanted to try cast iron.Regular cast iron is just too heavy for me (I'm only 5 feet tall), so I thought this would suffice and it had good reviews. So far, I haven't been impressed. It's not as 'non-stick' as some of the reviewers said and it started to develop some coloring that makes it worse.

To be fair, I am not a regular cast-iron user, so I wash it in soap and water the same way I wash every other kitchen pan, dishware, etc.Maybe I should stick with the brands I've known to perform consistently.

Bialetti Aeternum Saute Pan

Bialetti Aeternum Saute Pan, 12-InchI have used these nano-ceramic, eco-friendly non-stick, supposedly non-toxic types of pans that are now becoming more popular. They are in fact wonderful for the first few months, until the nano-ceramic coating starts to wear off and IT DOES.The first one I had cooked eggs beautifully with no oil, they'd slide off and the pan was a dream to clean. After a while the shiny surface becomes matte and everything starts to stick.Which is inconvenient, yes.But worse is that the nan-ceramic particles must be going somewhere (into the food?) and the material underneath increasingly comes into contact with the food.I had the first one replaced by the store (Bed & Bath) and a second one did the same thing. No more nano-ceramico for me.

I bought these pans mainly because I had health concerns regarding the Teflon on my non-stick pans (Chalpalon). After reading several articles about more health concerns, I decided not to take the risks and look for alternatives. I saw an Ad in La Cucian Italiana (I'm a subscriber and I cook A LOT) and went to Amazon, read (few) raving reviews and bought three pans. I was persuaded by the fact that ceramic is non-toxic and this who-ha-ha so cool nanoceramic technology and I said to myself this is the real future of pans. Ceramic is a great cooking material for 1000s of years. Those Bialetti scientists had found a way to attach ceramic to Aluminum [that we all know how great (but toxic) it is for cooking)

I'm writing this review a month and a half into using these pans.

The good

-Great looks

-Heat evenly and fast!

-real non-stick

-lightweight

The bad

The nano-ceramic coating on the Aluminum is really "nano". it is so thin that i don't think I'm familiar with a measurement unit to describe it. It is thinner than a paper. it is thinner than a hair. it is as thick as...I really can't find any familiar object that is this thin. If something will come to mind, I will add it later in the review.

Now, you probably ask yourself, how do I know that?

Because after two weeks or so, i started to notice small gray dots on the rims of one of my pans. at first I thought that this is a small grain of something. When I took a closer look, I realized that it is a small hole in the nanoceramic coating that covers --->> Aluminum.

Since it was on the rims of my pan I used the pan more until today, when I found a small hole in the coating in the middle of my pan.

Now I can tell you that the coating is so thin that you can hardly feel the hole in it with your fingers (you have to try hard to identify the hole by touch).

The holes are 10th of a millimeter in diameter, but they are there. On the rims (the top circle) I have many of them by now but I have only one hole in one pan in the center of the pan.

Now a word about me and how I handle my kitchen tools:

I never wash pans and pots in the dishwasher. I wash them always the same night after they cool down. Same is true for my knifes.

In addition, nobody washes my dishes! moreover, I only use wooden spoons when I'm cooking.

I can't believe that I was the cause for these mini holes in the pans.

One more thing to emphasize it is not a scratch just tiny holes. After say 30 days of real use. The real concern here is the Aluminum under the coating which is surely toxic.

There goes ~$100 down the drain.

I will not recommend this product to anyone.

As many reviewers have said, this pan looses its non-stick qualities in a few months (3-4) even using low to moderate heat settings. This particular item is a waste of money...

This is the greatest most convenient saute pan I've ever used by far.It cooks completely evenly and has a very solid feel to it.The insulated handle never gets warm.Nothing ever sticks to the surface, making clean up an absolute breeze. It doesn't have any of the chemical coatings whose safety has been called into question either, simply a ceramic nanotechnology--which I would call almost magical. All the starchy foods that were sticking to my other pans--potatoes, tofu, etcetera--get a brown crust but never stick.I rarely write reviews but this is the most useful piece of cookware that I own and I'm so pleased that I bought it after seeing a mention of it in my local paper.

April 18th 2013I have virtually abandoned these pans--I now use only the wok out of the set I bought.Instead, I use the Wearever ceramic pan set. They seem much more durable and less prone to staining, retaining their white properties for a much longer period of time.

I purchased the 10.25" version of this pan and for the first few weeks loved it.The nonstick coating is very easy to clean and I loved the color of the pan. However, less than a month after purchasing I too began getting chips in the middle of my pan.I emailed Bialetti's customer support to comment on this to them.I did not ask for a new pan, but simply was offering feedback, as well as inquiring about the safety of the now-chipped pan.The Bialetti representative acted as if I had demanded several free pans, asked for pictures of the defective pan (as if I would just troll the internet for unsuspecting cookware companies) and firmly stated that I would get a one-time replacement and that's it.She also stated I would have to ship my pan back at my own cost (!), although thankfully that at least went away when I sent pictures.

I did receive my one-time-only replacement pan, and it is not the same color (I really liked my black pan) AND it also has a chip, right in the middle of the pan.The poor customer service and the horrible longevity of the pan make this a no-buy.

So this product does take a little bit more work to clean up afterward. Now he can have eggs, rice, hot sandwiches instead of cold ones. He said it is well worth the money. It cooks evenly and the teflon coating appears to be of very good quality. We're thinking of buying another just like it!

This pan works very well. I'd hate to pay more than this (and you certainly can when you are looking for induction compatible cookware) for a non-stick. No matter how well made, the non-stick will wear off in a few years.

Smart money, no disappointment.

I have the Calphalon, Cuisinart green gourmet and American Kitchen 8" skillets. The American Kitchen is by far the best nonstick.

Want American Kitchen Stainless Steel Non-PFOA Nonstick Skillets Discount?

The pan seemed well-made.It comes with elaborate instructions, e.g., "don't cook on higher than medium" and "don't use non-stick sprays," which we arefollowing (to the extent we can remember them all), but still certain foods stick, like scrambled eggs -the main thing most people buy a pan like this to cook, I'm guessing. We're still working on how to use this best, but do like that it is supposedly better for our family. The stuck on eggs come off ok if you are gentle about it.But people expecting a perfect non-stick experience may be disappointed.

Updating this, this pan should only be purchased by people who don't cook eggs for breakfast, and who like to spend a lot of time cleaning and trying to safely scrape pans with soft implements. I was given a circulon pan by a sympathetic family member who didn't want to see me hit somebody with this pan in a fit of rage. The circulon pan, also with care instructions, works beautifully.

Duxtop Whole-Clad Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Induction Ready Premium Cookware with Lid

Duxtop Whole-Clad Tri-Ply Stainless Steel Induction Ready Premium Cookware SaucePan with Cover 3-QuartI bought this 6.5 Quart Saucepan to go along with an induction cooktop by the same company. To test it out though I tried it with cubed chicken breast on an electric stove, which in lesser quality pans usually causes hotspots and results in some chicken underdone, some overdone. I was impressed that the Duxtop pan heated evenly and the chicken was consistently cooked over the entire surface of the pan. When it came time to add a sauce and up the heat for reduction, it also performed well but I did need to watch the heat as not to have anything stick or burn, normal for a new pot though.

The handles stayed pretty cool and I did not need to use pot holders. This is a fairly heavy pan for the money about $27 as an Amazon Warehouse Deal and not sure I'd pay more than that considering the lid. The lid is VERY thin and does not sit exactly flush across the top of the pot; a little bend to it so it allows some steam to escape. Not a deal breaker for me. Attractive shiny finish is a plus looks great on the stove. Deglazed and cleaned up with very little effort.

Will update with induction cooking results.

Overall, so far, pleased with this purchase.

01/29/21 UPDATE: I have used this pan on the Duxtop Induction Cooktop to create an Asian stir fry with noodles. The pan heated quickly at the default setting which is 5; I raised the heat in increments to 10 and used peanut oil to help avoid smoking. It seared the chicken very quickly with barely any sticking. Some bits did begin to brown and coat the bottom of the pan. As I added four tablespoons of Thai fish sauce the brown bits quickly released and the pan deglazed very easily. The rice noodles did not stick until the very end when I allowed them to sit just a little too long while getting plates. Once the pan was empty I added a cup of water to it while it was still warm and the remaining noodles came loose easily. Cleanup was quick and only required a scrubbie sponge.

I bought this with duxtop cooktop because we are not sure if the cookware we already have can use on induction cooktop. To our surprise, the pan we received is a heavy duty stainless steel pan, the steel is much thicker than all the other cookwares we have. It works great on my induction cooktop and my electric burner. And I am pretty sure it will last forever.

Lodge Logic L8IC3 Cast Iron Lid, 10.25-inch

Lodge Logic L8IC3 Cast Iron Lid, 10.25-inchIf you own the Lodge Logic 10-1/4-inch skillet, this cover allows for more versatility. It allows for even heating and dutch oven type use. If you prepare something, and just want to keep it warm, or use it outdoors and need protection. It also will seal in nutrients and flavorsbecause of the tight fit, and also the self-basting spikes. I used another lid in a pinch, but it didnt give me the same cooking results as the Lodge lid. The 3-quart chicken fryer, and 5-quart Dutch oven have the same size lids, and you can interchange those lids, but I found I was using them at the same times often, and needed a seperate lid for my skillet. For the price, it just doesnt make sense not to go ahead and have one.

I love the lid that goes with my Lodge Logic 10-1/4-Inch Pre-Seasoned Skillet. It is obvious that many other people love their Lodge cookware too.Ever since Joseph Lodge started making cast iron cookware in the 1800's --the company goes back to 1896 -people have been loving it and passing it down from one generation to the next.

If we decide to get a 3-quart chicken fryer or 5-quart Dutch oven, this lid will work fine for them too.The self-basting spikes keep the lid fitting snugly.

It came preseasoned and ready to use.We hand wash it and the skillet. We don't submerge it in water for long periods. Instead of draining it, we dry it with a dish towel immediately. The we spray it lightly with Pam(PAM-Original No Stick Cooking Spray, 3/8oz Cans) or rub it with an oil saturated paper towel. When we store it we place a folded paper towel between the lid and the utensil to allow air to circulate.

We try to remember not to shock it and the skillet by placing cold water in the hot pan.

I hope you find this review helpful.

As far as I know, (I have the 8" and 12" equivalents of this lid as well), the 12" lid is the only one that has little flanges (?) that cover the spout portion of the corresponding skillet. So less steam will escape. This lid does not have those flanges, so steam will escape from the spouts. Also, the resulting hole will let dust/flies in.

When I got the lid, the "self-basting spikes" (see picture) were not on the description list, so I had really no idea what they were for.I thought it might have been a manufacturing artifact.Or considering that the pioneers didn't have much space, it had dual functions, like maybe you can use it double up as a grill, or use it to tenderize/hold meat, or play Chinese Checkers. The premise of the self-basting spikes is that as condensation forms on the underside of the lid, the liquid will drip down those spikes evenly on the food.I think it works pretty well the only real problem I have with this lid is that it is soooo heavy. And not clear.Oh well.

The lid was surprisingly easy to season, though.I thought I might have to cook on it to get it properly seasoned, but after 1 session in the oven, it came out better-seasoned looking than my matching griddle.

I looked at it like this:

The 5 Qt. Dutch Oven cover fits the 10 1/4" skillet.

The 10 1/4" cover is $16.99

The 5 Qt. Dutch Oven is $26.99

If I subtract what I'd spend for the 10 1/4"cover, the D.O. Only costs $10.00 more. That's a big hunk of iron for a mere $10.00.

I did the same thing by buying the 7 Qt. D.O. with Spiral Handle because the cover fits my 12" skillet.

Also, I found a brush that works very well to clean the pans and lids Power Tip Dish & Glass Brush

Lodge Skillet with Glass Lid

Lodge L10SKG3 Skillet with Glass Lid, 12-inchI called Lodge and they verified that this is the same skillet as the 12" L10SK3.This package includes the glass lid.Mine was packed OK by both Lodge and Amazon.

We often use this skillet for making pizza, and it is equally brilliant for wilting veggies, baking a skillet cookie, bread, etc.

I cook absolutely EVERYTHING with this skillet! I was raised on cast iron and was lacking any of my own when I first got married. I haven't found any other pan that cooks the way I want short of cast iron. This was a reasonable price and included a lid which is very helpful. So long as you know proper care of cast iron, this item will not disappoint.

We have several Lodge products and LOVE them all. Made in USA, lead-free product. We have just about switched out all our copper bottom, stainless cookwear for cast iron. I highly reccommend Lodge cast iron products. They are preseasoned and come with a small booklet that is a handy basic "cast iron 101" guide.

CucinaPro 1443 Flatbread and Tortilla Maker

CucinaPro 1443 Flatbread and Tortilla MakerI have never made tortillas before so this is all new to me. I bought one and read the instructions on how to make them. Armed with this info and the other review which suggests cooking them separately, and having seen how Cafe Rio does theirs, I set off on the first batch. The first batch had mixed results, but not bad for first time. The main problem I had was pressing too long and too hard, making it thin and stiff (hard to roll a burrito with a hard shell). This time I did the wheat tortillas (recipe included with the owner's manual) and all of them turned out. The actual press time was less than 10 seconds and included flipping it.

I am really impressed with the non-stick coating. It really does not need any coating on it (even though the manufacturer recommends it) because the tortillas simply will not stick. I center them (after the first press the ball dough will sometimes slide a little because of the slick surface), flip them, and take them out all without a spatula.

Perhaps one thing I do which also helps is that I start the dough off in a bread maker and let it do the kneading for about 10 minutes then form into balls and let them rest for 30 minutes. But as far as being a difficult machine to use I have not found this to be the case just follow the instructions.

I noticed that several reviews indicated that users were using this machine to both press and cook their tortillas. This machine works in the same way as the 3000 dollar tortilla press except no automatic operation, that said a tortilla press needs to be hot to keep the tortilla from shrinking, however the tortilla needs to be finished cooking on a griddle for best results.

This is better than any other tortilla or roti maker I have tried. Its bigger and also heavier which reduces the amount of pressure one needs to apply to make flat thin perfect leveled round rotis. I primarily got it to make Rotis. 1 drawback that i did notice is that it does not heat up a lot which ends up taking longer to make the rotis which means slightly drier rotis. So I might try something which can heat up more which I will do rather reluctantly because this is the sturdiest roti maker I have ever come across. Rotis are different as after pressing them down to shape we really should cook on these electric roti makers just like a Tawa or Pan . Pressing them again and again will only make them harder and rubbery. I suggest for 1st timers to search youtube for videos. They are full of them. Thats how I got it right. That said, I dont think the tortilla makers roti can ever compare to the conventional method. If you rate the conventional rotis as a 9 or 10 /10. I would give this a 6/10. But for the sheer convenience of sitting on a chair watching T.V making these rotis in an air conditioned room without sweating it out in the heat of the flame I would give it a 9 / 10.

11/6/12UPDATE: We bought a second one!One is not enough, kids have no patience. This is a popular fast food favorite in our kitchen: Rye, Whole Wheet, Pretzle flat bread and Tortillas by the dozen ...

First, we use NO LARD, BUTTER, or OIL of any kind and NO EGGS.Applesauce makes a good egg substitute, if you really want to go there, but it's really not needed.

OK it takes a little trial and error to get the mixture moisture correct and to understand how much pressure to exert and when to take it out.Pressing them too thin makes them lacy.Opening it too early makes them pull apart (just close & let it cook a little more). They scrape off easily with a plastic (NOT metal) pancake turner.

The best part?We are making tortillas so soft, fluffy, sweet and delicous, they're becoming the main course!Try this: drain a can of sweet corn, puree in the blender.Mix it with Corn Masa (for tortillas) until the batter is stiff.Keep the tortillas less than 7 inches the larger ones make the grill difficult to open.Best tortillas ever! Then customize them to taste with salt, onion, jalapenos, or ...

Next, mix whole wheat flour or rye flour with about 1/4 seminolina flour & water for a soft dough, add caraway seeds, salt, oregeno, thyme, rosemary to taste.Everyone loves our flat bread!

Next, thin out the Masa mixture a little, let it cook a little longer, and it makes healthy chips with NO OIL for dipping in the homemade salsa.

Already sent my sister one of these and we're planning on taking it to a friend's when it's our turn to do the snacks.

My wife and I are trying to get away from wheat (after buying "wheat belly" from Amazon) and had a hard time finding corn based flatbreads where we shop.

So we bought the Cucina pro piece. We had a little trouble at first but learned to press slowly on the unformed breads until they are flat. AND we learned to let the dough get to room temp at least before cooking. A hot cooking surface and a cold dough makes a real mess.

Norpro Mini Nonstick Carbon Steel 6-Inch Fry Pan

TeChef - Blooming Flower Frying Pan, with Teflon Platinum Non-Stick Coating (PFOA Free) / Ceramic C

TeChef - Blooming Flower 11' Frying Pan, with Teflon ® Platinum Non-Stick Coating / Ceramic Coated Outside / Induction Ready)My wife and I both love this little 8" frying pan. It's great for small jobs such as hamburgers, hot dogs, sausages, etc.. It's also really easy to clean. The non stick coating works really well. About a tablespoon of your favorite cooking oil and you're all set.

We ordered this pan because we have an induction cook top; we have stainless steel pans, but they burn and stick constantly, so we needed a nonstick pan. This has been great. Perfect for omelets, any pan searing we love it. And, of course, so easy to clean. Couldn't be happier.

I've tried several non-stick frying pans over the years. and they've never worked well. But until now!

So far, everything has cooked beautifully with little to no butter or oil needed. No issues with anything sticking.

Very classy and expensive looking and I love the color and flower design!! and the most surprising thing is that is is very high quality. I just ordered one more for my mom.

My only complaint is that the pan feels heavy to me. It could be that this is just a comparison issue as the old pan (from Wal-Mart) was so light.

I'll update this review in the event that there are long term problems.

Works very well on our induction cooktop. Some of our other pans would develop hot spots that might of been due to uneven distribution of the magnetic metals. We bought the 8 And 10 Inch pans. Both heat evenly. Omelettes come out tender and perfectly cooked. Hashbrowns come out evenly brown and pleasantly crisp.Delivery was very quick.

Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 10- and 12-Inch Omelet Pans, Set of 2

Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick 10- and 12-Inch Omelet Pans, Set of 2I purchased a two pack of the 8 and 10" skillets from Macy's this past summer. All my pans work great. I find they are a bit like cast iron.Once they heat up (on medium), they retain their heat and cook evenly. I use medium heat, and can often get by with med-low. No warping or flaking yet. (The key is to not use any more heat than necessary excessive high heat can ruin most skillets) I also got a griddle which is the Calphalon One Infused Anodized their top line. I love it as well, and would purchase either again.I went mostly with the Contemporary line due to lower price. Be sure to read the packaging to see what line you are getting, as they have several lines out there. There is the 'infused anodized' and the 'hard anodized', nonstick and without the nonstick, etc.

Check out their website for more information.

These pans have excellent heavy bottoms. I don't have too many gripes, except it would have been nice if the handles were welded to the outside instead of being bolted in. Stuff will stick to the bolts.

I just cook neater and avoid the bolts, and I'm fine.

We use these pans for literally EVERYTHING that can be cooked on a stovetop!

SHIPPING was SUPER FAST!!!

*** UPDATE *** September 10, 2008

Excellent product UNTIL we had guests who "helped us" clean up and put them in our super heavy duty dishwasher... After that, the finish was never the same. I have ALWAYS hand washed my non stick pans. I'm afraid the trip through the dishwasher killed them. Now, our dishwasher is brutal, much more harsh than the average dishwasher, i have to admit.

We still use them, I'm a fan of the heavy bottoms and even distribution of heat. But now, I have to use cooking spray to keep food particles from sticking :(

These are the pans that get used in my house almost every day. They are heavy which distributes the heat evenly, but make the big one difficult to carry when it's full. The nonstick surfaces are better than most, but don't last forever. After about 4 years of frequent use, they started sticking a bit.

After 3 years of use, my skillets were starting to show wear on the bottom and the coating was just starting to come up a little bit.I've never put them in the dishwasher or used any utensils other than plastic but I know I have sometimes set the skillets inside of each other or let other dishes sit inside of them while in the sink.

I followed the instructions on Calphalon's web site for the warranty and returned the skillets paying about $12 for shipping.I didn't need an RMA number or to contact the company just wrote a letter outlining what they ask on the website (name, address, problem, etc.) and shipped (and tracked) them.About 2 1/2 weeks later in the mail I got 2 brand new skillets shipped to me from Calphalon same size and type I had sent to them, but brand new.

I'm very impressed with their customer service and plan on taking extra special care of my skillets and will hang them on a pot rack and make sure to not stack them in each other and follow all other instructions and hope that the coating doesn't come off. But, if it does, I know Calphalon will take care of it, and for $12 shipping much better than buying new skillets!

A non-stick skillet is a kitchen workhorse. For today's home cooks, the skillet may serve its traditional role of frying and sauteing, but in addition, for the cook in a hurry, a follower of Jaques Pepin and Rachael Ray, the skillet may replace a pot when there are liquids to be reduced, since the wider top offers more room for evaporation. While a traditional skillet may be prefered for developing a fond, the carmelized bits of food that add flavor to a dish, many of us would sacrifice a bit of flavor for an easy clean-up. While non-stick skillets won't make a good pan sauce, they have an edge when it comes to cooking delicate foods such as eggs, or thin fish. Every cook whose aspirations go beyond microwaving a frozen dinner should have a competent 12" non-stick skillet.

That said, non-stick surfaces have a limited life, and so it's wisest to watch the price. The bargain price for these two pans is an attraction, although, while the box says it's a limited time offer, I've seen this deal at the same price for some time now.Beyond that, when Cook's Illustrated rated inexpensive non-stick skillets, their top rated 12" skillet was about $33 -not enough to break the deal.

That said, the two skillets for around $50 is a good value. While a 10" skillet may be less versatile than a 12", it may be a good idea to have one around if you have a small kitchen, or a smallish stovetop, and no way of fitting two large pans side by side. The sloping sides of this set, aside from having a modern look, are an aid in removing food neatly, and are a real boon for those trying to learn how to make a neat omlette.Durability seems good, and while heat distribution isn't perfect, it seems to be on a par with similar pans I've used.

The handles stay cool over long cooking time, and the non-stick coating generally cleans easily.

In sum, these are good everyday pans at a favorable, but not dramatically inexpensive price. If you're shopping for skillets in this general price range, the two-fer deal should rate a place on the short list, but there's no real wow factor. The price is good for the two pans together, but if you're unlikely to use them together, you may be better off with a marginally more expensive skillet at a lower net cost.
